Get Involved – Volunteer

Northreach Society loves our volunteers! We provide any training you will need and welcome volunteers with a variety of skills. If you are interested in volunteering with us, download an application package here (or click the photo below) and bring it in during office hours or email the completed form to info@northreach.ca. Here are some of the roles our volunteers take on with us:

General Assistance

We have a variety of tasks around the office such as filing, greeting clients, answering phones and making needle packs for our needle exchange program.

LGBTQ Youth Drop In

Experienced and passionate youth workers may volunteer at our weekly youth drop in which focuses on building up local youth, many of whom identify as LGBTQ. A Child Welfare check is required for those working with youth.

Outreach/Client support

HIV North’s Outreach and Support Services Initiative is a comprehensive and coordinated network of services for the street involved individuals in the Grande Prairie region.  Day, evening and weekend street outreach provides Harm Reduction supplies, disease transmission reduction education, program promotion, participant recruitment, risk reduction counseling, coordination into care, referrals into housing programs, and street based supportive services when necessary.

Board members needed! HIV North Board meets a minimum of six times per year. These meetings will be held via Skype and/teleconference to facilitate active involvement from all satellite community Board members.

We are looking for any of the following:

  • Representatives from Business and Industry to guide the actions of future programming.
  • Representatives from Financial Institutions or with an accounting background to provide input
    regarding financial practices and ensure continued financial growth and sustainability.
  • Representatives from individuals from the positive community to ensure meaningful
    involvement of persons living with HIV, to enhance planning and focus of Society work.
